“The Oakland Police Department advises of an assembly planned to take place on Saturday, February 4th, beginning at 8:00p.m.with a march to occur afterward along an unplanned and unknown route from Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. As always, the City of Oakland and the Oakland Police Department welcome peaceful assemblies, protests, and marches, but criminal activity, including vandalism and violence, is not tolerated.
The Oakland Police Department has a strategy in place to react to contingencies. Traffic in downtown and West Oakland may be intermittently displaced as the marches and rallies occur.
Website postings have announced that this is “a militant, radical march” and have asked peaceful bystanders to not interfere with criminal tactics. To ensure the safety of media, arrestees, and law enforcement personnel, Public Information Officer (PIO) accompaniment or media staging outside of police lines is preferred.
A field PIO is available for this planned incident.”

Oakland Police Department media advisory sent three and a half hours before the beginning of this week’s Fuck the Police march, where, according to social media sites, protesters plan to bring brooms and other cleaning products and have vowed to use non-violent tactics. Should be interesting.
And if there is a PIO in the field, maybe I won’t be arrested this time?
